If you liked the movie Bad Moms, then you’ll love this play about modern motherhood and the hilarity and harsh realities of parenting in this generation. Filled with tear-jerking, mom-twerking, knee-slapping tales, Motherload speaks to every mom who has ever struggled to find balance, friendships, and themselves in today’s digitally-focused world of parenting.
Emelia Symington Fedy, Jody-Kay Marklew, Juno Rinaldi, and Sonja Bennett – the four funny ladies behind the dark comedy, bare their intimate, real-life tales of life before and after babies, recounting their experiences as they’ve morphed from independent young adults to married moms – seeking balance, trying to fit in, and struggling to keep it all together.
Through their creative, comforting, and comical short stories, reenactments, photos and video snippets, the creators welcome their audience into their hearts and their homes, crying tears of joy and heartache as they spill their stories on stage.
The performance is not only entertaining, it’s a testament to the raw emotions and feelings of uncertainty that come with donning the title of mom. Through their interconnected tales, the actors remind their audience that despite the different journey each mother has taken, there is one unifying message that all moms need to hear during those trying first years of motherhood: “You’re a good mom.”
Head to The Cultch for a memorable evening of theatre, and enjoy a touching performance that you won’t stop talking about for days following. This production will make you laugh until you cry, and cry because you get it. Bring your friends (and some kleenex) and enjoy the ultimate moms night out.
