Filming in Vancouver: Game Over, Man!, Cameron Monaghan, Peyton List, Barry Watson, and more

Workaholics cast members Anders Holm, Adam Devine, and Blake Anderson will star in the feature film Game Over, Man!

While one film is getting its game on in town, another one is wrapping up in the province. And a TV show finishes up shooting its first season.

It’s a typical week in Hollywood North, with productions coming and going, so let’s size up what and who is shooting in town this week.

Contrary to its title, Game Over, Man! is just getting its game going. Shooting for the action-comedy starts on Wednesday (April 12) and continues until June 5.

This Netflix feature stars Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and Blake Anderson, and is directed by Kyle Newacheck, all of whom work together on the TV series Workaholics.

Seth Rogen

All four also appeared as beer pong guys in Seth Rogen’s 2014 film Neighbors—and they’ll reunite with Rogen again on this film as Rogen, along with Scott Rudin, is an executive producer. (Fun fact: Vancouver is Rogen’s hometown.)

The title references the famous line uttered by Bill Paxton’s character in the 1986 sci-fi horror classic Aliens. (Sadly, Paxton, who starred in films such as The Terminator and Titanic, died on February 25.)

The plot has not yet been revealed but has been described as Die Hard in a hotel.

As that one gets underway, another film will be finishing up.

Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet started filming in the Okanagan and Vancouver on March 27 and will wrap up on Saturday (April 15).

The film is an adaptation of Joanne Proulx’s young adult novel.

Cameron Monaghan

Cameron Monaghan (Shameless) stars as a student who develops precognitive abilities, forseeing the death of his best friend.

When his prediction comes true, he becomes socially outcast, as he begins to see even more fatal premonitions and becomes attracted to his best friend’s girlfriend, played by Peyton List (Bunk’d).

Meanwhile, another production calling it a wrap the new TV series Date My Dad.

The comedy-drama series, which started its shoot on January 17, finishes shooting Season 1 on Tuesday (April 11).

Date My Dad

It stars Barry Watson (7th Avenue) as Ricky, a former professional baseball player whose beloved wife died three years ago, leaving him the single father of three girls, played by Zenia Marie Marshall, Lilah Fitzgerald, and Aubrey Smallman.

He’s not completely on his own, as he has the help of his mother-in-law Rosa, played by none other than screen queen Raquel Welch (Fantastic Voyage).

When Rosa announces that she’s moving away, the 40-year-old Ricky finds himself unsure of how to raise the girls in his own. But in actuality, they’re turning the tables by guiding him back into the world of dating for the first time in 20 years.

Well, that’s all for this week but check back in with us next week when we list which superhero TV series are finishing up production on their latest seasons, as well as what’s new and what else is leaving town.
